Communications Strategy

Communications Strategy

Communication is a major part of any project or initiative. A communications strategy identifies the communication objectives of a project and how they can be achieved. It is an essential planning tool that should be developed at the start of a project, ideally in conjunction with a project or business plan and in consultation with a specialist from your Communications Unit. Communication strategies are not set and forget, it is important to review them often, particularly the action plan.

The complexity of a communication strategy will depend on the project. Some strategies may only result in a couple of actions such as a media release and an intranet article, while others may require research, marketing campaigns, and the design and production of supporting materials.

Important:

  • It is essential that all communications activities comply with the Tasmanian Government Corporate Brand Identity and Communications Policy. Every effort must be made to ensure all communications produced by the Tasmanian Government are inclusive and meet accessibility standards.
  • Before considering any form of social media refer to the Tasmanian Government’s Social  Media Strategy Template.

Approval process

Communication strategies and social media strategies must be approved by your Agency’s Communications Manager (or delegate) according to your relevant agency processes.
