Homes Tasmania’s role is to improve access to safe, secure and affordable housing because housing is a fundamental right for all Tasmanians.

Affordable housing provides a foundation for people to participate in their community: finding and keeping a job, getting to school, making community connections, and achieving their goals.

Our programs provide crisis accommodation and support, social housing including supported accommodation, and affordable housing such as programs to help make it easier to find and stay in private rental accommodation, incentives for landlords to make their properties available for affordable rental and we acquire land for residential development and sale and provide affordable home ownership assistance.

We manage social housing tenancies, strategically deliver and manage social and affordable housing and release land for residential development, giving priority to Tasmanians most in need.

These programs help build a more diverse and sustainable housing market that allows Tasmanians to improve their housing situation

We work with government, industry, and the housing and support sectors to increase housing opportunities.

Working at Homes Tasmania means being part of a values-based organisation that is bold, has heart, trusts and adapts, and supports our people, partners and infrastructure to achieve our goals.

We are bold in planning for the future while delivering in the present, embracing new approaches to achieve targets set by the Tasmanian Government. We act with heart, delivering housing that meets the diverse needs of Tasmanians across life stages and circumstances. We build and maintain trust through transparency, objective decision-making and clear reporting on progress. Informed by data, best practice and local input, we will adapt our programs and service models.
