While we encourage you to apply for all our jobs, as an Aboriginal person, you might be interested in working in a job that has a focus on working with Aboriginal people and or Aboriginal programs, projects and services.
Aboriginal identified and tagged positions, and Aboriginal eligibility
Some of our jobs work with or provide a service to, as well as develop policies and programs that primarily impact Aboriginal People. These positions are called ‘Identified’ and ‘Tagged’ Positions.
Identified positions have duties which primarily relate to Aboriginal people and can only be filled by Aboriginal people. There is an eligibility process (see below) that you will need to go through to confirm your eligibility to be employed in an Identified position.
Aboriginal eligibility requires that you:
- have Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander ancestry
- self-identify as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander
- are recognised as an Aboriginal person and/or Torres Strait Islander by the Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community in which you live or have lived.
If you have any questions about the eligibility form or your eligibility in general, you can contact Aboriginal Partnerships on ap@dpac.tas.gov.au
Tagged positions have duties that require the applicant to be able to effectively and sensitively communicate with Aboriginal people, as well as have the knowledge and understanding of contemporary Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and society.
