The Lifting Literacy Outcomes Monitoring Group held their August meeting at the Kingston Library.

Libraries are valued sanctuaries for book lovers and vital sites for literacy learning in the early and adult years.

As the independent monitoring group for the Lifting Literacy Implementation Plan 2024-2026, the group are interested to meet the people who support literacy skill development in Tasmania and the people who benefit from literacy services.

During their visit, the group met with a literacy volunteer tutor, and a volunteer participant in the Adult Literacy program to hear about how adult learners are supported to meet their goals.

The group also attended one of the popular Rock and Rhyme sessions.

The group were inspired by the opportunity to connect directly with literacy learners and the staff and volunteers who work with them.

In 2025 the group are looking forward to visiting more settings in Tasmania where literacy learning happens.
