The Tasmanian State Service digital and ICT workforce is a broad and talented group that provide a range of transformational and business as usual services to support government priorities.
The whole of government Digital Workforce Capability Development Work Stream is a Digital Strategy and Services (DSS) initiative led out of the Department of Premier and Cabinet (DPAC). This initiative uses the Skills Framework for the Information Age (SFIA) within the Tasmanian State Service as a guide to help workforce managers, employees and career seekers in team building and career pathways.
SFIA is a global standard for describing the skills and competencies required by professionals in ICT, software engineering, and digital transformation roles. It can be used by individuals, managers, human resource professionals, capability development specialists and workforce planners.
By aligning to the SFIA framework, the sector adopts a common language to describe roles and skills which supports improved strategic workforce planning and targeted workforce initiatives including the development of career pathways and supporting mobility across the sector.
The Tasmanian State Service Digital Workforce Capability Development Work Stream uses SFIA to map Tasmanian State Service job roles and skills which underpins the Digital Careers Campaign activities.

This Australian Government has developed the Career Pathfinder tool that enables career seekers to undertake skill self-assessments against the SFIA framework which aids in their digital career planning.
SFIA Licence
Tasmanian Government agencies are licenced to access the global standard for digital and ICT skills for free within Australia through the Australian Government multi-year, whole of country licence.
