​​I, JOANNE LESLEY PALMER MLC, Minister for Primary Industries and Water administering the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 (the Act) pursuant to the powers under section 94 of the Act, hereby determine that:

1. The total allowable catch for the commercial Mackerel Fishery is set at 5,303 tonnes in total (all species) for each open season from:

(a) 1 May 2022 to 30 April 2023 (inclusive)

(b) 1 May 2023 to 30 April 2024 (inclusive)

(c) 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025 (inclusive).

2. Determine that the parts of the commercial mackerel fishery from which the total allowable catch for the open seasons set out in section 1 is to be taken are:

(a) Blue mackerel (Scomber australasicus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel A);

(b) Blue mackerel (Scomber australasicus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel B);

(c) Jack mackerels (Genus Trachurus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel A);

(d) Jack mackerels (Genus Trachurus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel B);

(e) Redbait (Emmelichthys nitidus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel A);

(f) Redbait (Emmelichthys nitidus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel B).

3. Determine the portion of the total allowable catch to be taken from each part of the commercial mackerel fishery for the open seasons set out in section 1 are:

(a) Blue mackerel (Scomber australasicus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel A) – 1,431 tonnes;

(b) Blue mackerel (Scomber australasicus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel B) – 477 tonnes;

(c) Jack mackerels (Genus Trachurus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel A) – 1,875 tonnes;

(d) Jack mackerels (Genus Trachurus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel B) – 625 tonnes.;

(e) Redbait (Emmelichthys nitidus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel A) – 671 tonnes;

(f) Redbait (Emmelichthys nitidus) to be caught by the holders of a fishing licence (mackerel B) – 224 tonnes.

Words and expressions used in this notice have the same meaning as they have in the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 and the Fisheries (Mackerel) Rules 2019.
