NOTICE OF THE REVOCATION OF THE CLOSED SEASON FOR THE COMMERCIAL ABALONE FISHERY

 

I, Dr Ian Dutton, General Manager (Marine Resources) in the Department of Natural Resources and Environment Tasmania, acting pursuant to a delegation from the Minister for Primary Industries and Water made on 13 July 2022 and acting pursuant to section 20(1) of the Living Marine Resources Management Act 1995 (the Act), hereby determine under rule 9 of the Fisheries (Abalone) Rules 2017 (the Rules) that:

 

the notice titled NOTICE OF THE DATES OF THE CLOSED SEASON FOR THE COMMERCIAL ABALONE FISHERY AND NOTICE OF ABALONE FISHERY CLOSURE TO SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES that closes commercial abalone sub-blocks 20A and 20B to commercial abalone divers entering the water by swimming or diving from 12:01 am 17 August 2022 to 11:59 pm 31 December 2022 published on the Department's webpage Abalone Closures | Fishing Tasmania on and from 15 August 2022 is revoked on and from 12:01 am 5 November 2022.

 

Any expression used in this notice having a particular meaning under the Act or the Rules has the same meaning in this notice.

The commercial abalone fishery in State waters off the south-east coast of Tasmania is being opened from 12:01 am 5 November 2022. This open area relates to commercial abalone fishing in fishing sub-blocks 20A and 20B only.​​
